The
Sommelier Wine Academy has been founded by
Christopher Miller and
Lawrence LaManna to offer both professionals and consumers with
SWA wine courses of several different levels. Currently we are offering a
Wine Steward Certificate Course (our Introduction to wine course), a
Certified Wine Captains Course, and a
Certified Advanced Sommelier Course.
Christopher and Lawrence both have years of experience in the wine industry and as wine instructors and educators.
As a wine educator, Christopher has held the position of Wine Education Manager for Winebow Inc. and consulted on educational programs for Charmer Industries, Corterra Wines, Martin-Scott Wines and is currently the Wine Educator and internet content provider for Sherry-Lehmann Wine Merchants and for
Hamptons Wine Club .
He has also been the sommelier for
The 21 Club,
The American Hotel (Sag Harbor) and consulted as a sommelier for 75 Main (Southampton) and
The Stone Creek Inn (East Quogue). Trained at the Culinary Institute of America and in Europe, his experiences also include Chef-Owner of a four-star restaurant and Saucier Chef at a four-star hotel in Switzerland. Currently Christopher is an Advanced Sommelier and a Master Sommelier Candidate in the
Court of Master Sommeliers program.

Dan's Papers.Lawrence LaManna has been a wine salesman, manager, marketing director and winemaker in a career spanning nearly 30 years. He has worked for various wineries and distributors/importers throughout the East Coast. He is a graduate of Cornell University Hotel School; Harriet Lembeck’s Beverage Program and Graduate Program; and the Giesenheim Wine Course at the German Wine Academy.
In sales, he has worked in retail for 'Zachy's,' Scarsdale, NY and for 'Wine Connection,' Pound Ridge, NY.
Wineries: Glen Ellen winery, where he created the foundation for MG Vallejo Brand on the East Coast; Sebastiani; Sharpe Hill, Pomfret, CT – winemaker and vineyard development

Created a brand called “Red Tail Red” as ‘Negociant Wine’ from the Red Mountain appellation in Columbia Valley Appellation in Washington State.
